December 27 was my 8 week appointment and we were meeting with the Nurse Practitioner, Stephanie Quinn. At the ultrasound we saw and heard that sweet heartbeat (170 bpm) and everything looked great. It was so wonderful seeing that sweet baby on the monitor again and this time actually seeing a baby and not a fuzzy blob (crazy to think how much it grew in 2 weeks)! When we met with Stephanie we talked about all the regular pregnancy stuff and she asked us if we wanted any genetic testing since we had the SMA gene in our history. We told her that the lab that did the PGD testing had requested we do either a CVS or Amnio but we didn't want it and she supported and agreed! We said we would do a blood test on the baby once he or she was born to confirm whether the carrier or non-affected embryo had stuck! She said if we changed our minds about the Amnio just to let Dr. Curtis know at my 12 week appt. She told me because of the IVF I could be seen more but James and I both said we wanted to treat this pregnancy as normal as possible! While we were there we both got our flu shots and and set my 12 week appointment with Dr. Curtis for January 23.

That evening Addy made her big announcement to facebook
