Whew! What a week it has been! Last weekend I was out of town for a Dance Competition while Addy and James had a Daddy/Addy weekend! I missed my little princess so much and was very glad to get home!! Addy was laying on the couch when I got home and when she saw me she grinned from ear to ear! When Allison and Grammy were leaving she kept looking at me to make sure I wasn't leaving too. Last Thursday I got a text from one of my friends, Julia (you may remember me talking about her on here because she was one of my friends who was expecting a baby). She had a doctor's appt. last Thursday and her doctor sent her over to be induced. She had Braelyn Friday morning and her length and weight was SOOOO close to Addy's when she was born. Please add Braelyn and her family to your prayer list, Braelyn is dealing with jaundice and her doctor has been concerned about possibly having to put her back in the hospital if it doesn't start to get better. Yesterday they went to the doctors thinking they were going to be heading back to the hospital but prayers were answered and her numbers had dropped! They have to go back again today and they are hoping and praying the numbers are still dropping! Julia and I can't wait to get the girls together for their first play date!!

Addy had her monthly RSV shot on Wednesday and boy did she milk it! One would think that each month it would get easier but that is definitely not the case with her. She has learned the face of the one nurse that usually gives her the shot so everytime she see's her she immediately starts to fuss. She will get one more shot in April and then we will be done with RSV shots until October or November. Wooo hooo!! While we were there we saw our favorite nurse Cecilia (we only wish she was Dr. Nelson's nurse so we saw her more often) and our favorite doctor, Dr. Nelson! Addy wasn't too chatty with them during this visit due to the two shots and having physical therapy that morning (she was a bit of a drama queen that day...haha)!

This week we have started Addy on a new diet. This diet is called an Amino Acid diet and is very popular in the SMA Community. This diet consist of a new type of formula (Vivonex~only given to children over the age of 1), water, apple juce, apple sauce, sweet potatoes, green beans, bananas and different types of vitamins. We are starting off slowly and introducing a new item every 3 days and are hoping that she'll be completely on the diet in one month. The Amino Acid diet is very common and highly recommended for kids with SMA because everything is already broken down so Addy's body doesn't have to "work" to break down all the nutrients. Addy's Pulmonologist in Wisconsin also prescribed her "Robinol" which is used to dry up secretions. We haven't started her on this yet because Dr. Schroth says that sometimes the Amino Acid diet will dry up the secretions. If we don't have to put her on Robinol that would be a great thing. She would only need a little bit to start but one of the biggest problems with it is that you have to increase the dosage pretty frequently and once the body reaches its tolerance you have to take them off of it completely (this wouldn't be for a long time though)! We are hoping and praying this diet helps with Addy's secretions that way she can go back to standing in her stander and sitting up, currently she hasn't been able to do this due to her secretions!

We hope you all have a WONDERFUL weekend and enjoy this beautiful weather!! James and I are hoping to take Addy outside for many walks this weekend.
Happy St. Patty's Day!!

  1. Your daughter is just gorgeous. And I can see that "look" in her eyes that I see in God's special children.

Come by my blog...I tried to write a little about that.
