more basement trouble

If you remember from this post (***) our septic backed up the first part of June and we had to rip everything out of our basement.  One day while James and Randy were pulling up the carpet tack stripes in the big room they noticed part of the baseboard was wet under the window.  As they started pulling out the drywall they noticed the majority of the wood was rotten and we had a mold problem.  YAY (definite sarcasm)!!!
before...
mold issue was to the right of the door under and beside the window
The next day James dad came over to help him replace the header above the french doors and they determined it would be better to go ahead and rip out the old door and replace all the frame work and go ahead and buy a new door.  Thankfully that was only a day project and the next few evenings were spent cutting and hanging up new drywall.

The past week James and Randy have been installing can lighting throughout the big room (family room) and office and spent last night ripping out the tile in the bathroom (that had to come out as well due to the septic water on the grout).  They determined it was good that was coming out as well because it was rotted under there too!  We seriously can't catch a break!  When we moved in to this house we had lots of projects we wanted to do but replacing the entire downstairs was not one of them because everything down there was new already!  Once it is all done it will be just the way James wants it and then hopefully we can focus on our upstairs projects but the timing with the downstairs issues definitely could have been a little better!  When its all said and done the downstairs will have a new door, new drywall (and plaster), new paint, new carpet, new lighting and a new bathroom (we have decided to get rid of the shower stall and make it a tub/shower unit so IF the septic issue were to happen again it would only fill up the tub and not the entire downstairs!  We are definitely calling the septic issue a blessing in disguise because with this happening we would not have known about the mold in the family room!
